From old Central Lutheran recipe book.
Rosettes were always a special treat when I was little. Mom usually made the for Christmas, but it has been years since she made them. This year Mom found this recipe and tells me that it is the best one that she has used. All I know is that they are delicious!!!
2 eggs
1 tsp powdered sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup cornstarch
3/4 cup flour
1 cup milk
Beat eggs lightly. Set aside. Mix dry ingredients weelicious. Add eggs last and mix gently. Let batter rest 15 minutes. Put iron in oil while it is warming up. Dip rosette iron in batter. Fry in oil, 375 degrees. They should drop right off the iron onto a paper towel when done. Turn over so open end is down. Store.
Can be served with either a sprinkling of powdered sugar over the top, or press them into a bowl of sugar lightly. The pressed sugar method is my favorite!
